Isaiah 54:4-5says, “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood. For your Maker is your husband—the Lord Almighty is his name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.”
How would we treat the widows around us if we saw them the same way as Isaiah did? God Himself says he is the husband of the widow and her provider. Supporting widows and single mothers has been a focus of our ministry for over one decade. Most of them are young moms with small children who struggle to meet theirbasic daily needs.
Media 7 is committed to look “ after orphans and widows in their distress”(James 1:27). In the last five years we have helped over 700 widows with their basic needs
like food, medical expenses, clothes, and school books for children. We have helped over 200 widows learn a skill, find a job, or begin a small business.
In addition to the practical help we organize regularly events where different speakers address important issues widows of our days face every day.
As a media organization we want to be a voice for widows and Orphans. That’s the reason we have produced a lot of resources to encourage other churches and Christian organizations to support the widows around them.
We have produced a series of radio and television programs “Widows of the Bible” unfolding amazing stories of widows of the Bible. We have translated in Albanian language study materials for widows to help them live in their new reality. We are very thankful for Miriam Neff and Widows Connection a US based organization who has been coming alongside our organization to help us minister to the widows through Bible teaching and encouragement as well as in practical way helping them get a skill.
Our radio and TV show, CelesiIm, features every month widows who are making a difference in their community.
Below are some comments from different widows who participated on our events.
“Thank you for taking care of the widows in our city. This meeting was so refreshing and encouraged me to continue to serve diligently to the widows around me. I’m a widow myself and I had to go through a very hard time in the first year as a widow. I battled clinical depression, I went through a lot of financial problems. I felt lonely and invisible in church and didn’t know where to go for help. Thank you for opening my eyes. I’m waiting forward to go home and study all these Bible stories by myself.”Lora
“Thank you for sharing the story of the Widow and the Unjust Judge. I have never thought of that Bible story before. Albanian judges are very corrupted and I have been denied the rights on my land for over 7 years since my husband passed away. My husband’s family tried to take the land from me and they bribed the judge. I was devastated. I borrowed money to pay a lawyer and now lost everything. I battled with suicide thoughts for a long time. I have never experienced God in my life like today. Thank you so much.” Irena
We are committed to partner with ministries like Widow Connection providing sound Biblical teaching for our widows and for enabling us at Media 7 to look, listen and address the needs of those powerless among us.
